In a Q&A published on of August 27th, 2018, Bishop Robert Barron, auxiliary bishop of Los Angeles, takes questions about the recent scandals including the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report, also commenting on disgraced Archbishop and former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, and accusations from the retired Papal Ambassador to the U.S., Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, that McCarrick’s misdeeds were know to church leaders in Rome, including Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who, according to Vigano, had quietly placed sanctions on McCarrick to withdraw from public life to lead of life of prayer and penance, and Pope Francis who chose to rehabilitate McCarrick when he became Pope even though Vigano reports Pope Francis knew his misdeeds.
